Week 1 - Aug. 29 & 31 Our first day of Speaking and Listening was a bit chaotic. Teacher Solveiga (Intermediate High) was sick, so her students came to our classroom until the substitute teacher arrived. So we did an icebreaker activity in teams, so students could get to know each other. Once the Intermediate High students left, students watched two different San Francisco videos: one about Portsmouth Square , and the other about the Golden Gate Bridge . Students used a structured note to help them remember important facts about the two places. On Thursday, I introduced the class to discussion questions, which each S & L class will start with. Students choose a set of 10 questions on a variety of topics, and should find a partner and have a conversation built around the questions. This day the topics were travel and weather.
