On Monday, our first day of class, we started off with introductions, student expectations and class expectations. Meghan came to do computers, so she helped students get set up with gmail accounts and asked them to write a short paragraph or two about students' families, and share them with us. On Wednesday, we talked about the narrative essay and students read two examples of narrative essays. The main characteristics of the narrative essay include: Setting Characters Plot Narrator Problem/Conflict/Climax Before the end of class, students began their reflective journals. I asked them to list two to three things they learned the first week of class, along with some topics or themes they'd like to discuss. I plan to respond and we'll keep the dialogue going.
